A more potent form of our Matatabi sticks that also helps maintain healthy teeth! Packed into our Silvervine Coated Matatabi Sticks are naturally occurring essential oils that drive cats wild. The added whole silvervine gall fruits makes these even more enticing than our plain Matatabi sticks.
All sticks come from the very the same batches of plants as our regular chew sticks but just aren’t quite perfect enough to make it into our regular packaging. You likely won’t even notice a difference once your cat has them for a day.
In a majority of the sticks, the bark is coming off of the stick and/or end caps or the sticks are juts a bit end. Some of the fruits may not be quiet perfectly round. See photos for samples.
The plant is native to the mountains Japan and China and grows like an ivy on trees and rocks. It is officially named Actinidia Polygama, but is commonly called Silver Vine for the distinctive color of its leaves.
Many cats react to Matatabi (the vine of the Silvervine plant) and the fruits of the plant even if they show little interest to catnip. A 2017 scientific study found 70% of cats had a reaction to catnip, however over 80% of cats had a reaction to silvervine, with many cats enjoying both!
While Matatabi/ Silvervine is gradually becoming more well known here in the United States, and is more popular in East Asia than traditional catnip!
