What is Matatabi?
The plant is native to the mountains Japan and China and grows like an ivy on trees and rocks. It is officially named Actinidia Polygama, but is commonly called Silver Vine for the distinctive color of its leaves.
Many cats react to Matatabi (the vine of the Silvervine plant) and the fruits of the plant even if they show little interest to catnip. A 2017 scientific study found 70% of cats had a reaction to catnip, however over 80% of cats had a reaction to silvervine, with many cats enjoying both!
While Matatabi/ Silvervine is slowly becoming more well known here in the United States, and is more popular in East Asia than traditional catnip!

Never a disappointment!
Arrived in a timely manner. I am giving them as gifts for my Mom’s two cats for Christmas. I’m sure they’ll love them.
Well, the kitten is batting one around and my older cats want nothing to do with them. Whatever is in them, it isn’t affecting them like catnip at all. I’ve scratched them to try and release the scent, but they do not respond. They are well made, exactly as pictured, and were shipped promptly.
Very nice sticks but my cats didn’t really care about them at all. I gave them away and the other cat seemed to like them more. Preference I guess.

I gave it 4 stars because they’re just decorative at this point. One of my 4 cats loved on it if I hold them up to her face, but she quickly looses interest. Which is upsetting because she’s my chewer. I’m gonna keep them and keep trying. You never know when cats change their minds, but the product is exactly like the picture and you can tell that their kitty senses were going crazy for the silvervine when they were checking them out.
