Silvervine contains two naturally occurring compounds that cats find irresistible similar how they naturally just love catnip. Many cats react to silvervine, even if they show little interest to catnip. A 2017 scientific study found 70% of cats had a reaction to catnip, however over 80% of cats had a reaction to silvervine, with many cats enjoying both!
- Most cats react with kitten like behaviors such as playing with toys, rolling, rubbing, licking, or catching a case of the zoomies.
- Other cats will react in more subdued way, becoming more relaxed and chilling out in a dreamlike state.
- Use a small pinch on a favorite toy, scratching post, or wherever you want to encourage play.
How is it made?
To make our natural Silvervine Powder, we finely grind up the dried gall fruits of an ivy like plant called the Actinindia Polygama that is native to the mountains of Eastern Asia. Although relatively unknown in Northern America, the silver vine plant is more popularly used in Japan and China than traditional catnip among cat owners! There is a saying about Silvervine in Japan that goes- ““neko ni matatabi, joro ni koban” which translates to ” Silvervine is to cats as money is to a prostitute.” Simply put, cats LOVE Silvervine!

The large size tin is 2 fl oz and contains 40+ grams of silvervine powder. The small size tin is 1 fl oz and contains 20+ grams of silvervine powder.
- Effects will last anywhere from 5-30 minutes.
- Cats usually begin to respond when they are past 6 months of age, though some may sooner.

I have two cats, Crux and Petzl. I put some of this powder into a poison ring (enchanted kitty ring) and let them sniff it, and Crux went absolutely crazy and scratched me (he usually is mad) but he also couldn’t stop rolling around for about a half an hour. Petzl likes the smell but isn’t intrigued by it, however he’s already a very friendly kitten so it doesn’t matter too much. Amazing purchase and I can’t wait to rest it on other cats!!!!
